If your Resume does not get results.....

If your resume is not getting the results you want, here are some steps that you can take to really get noticed:

  • Ask someone who has hiring experience to read your resume. Ask for their honest opinion on how you can improve it. You can also review your own resume to see if you have credited yourself with all the experience you deserve. Did you forget to add the award or certificate you received? How about the advanced training or seminar you attended? Or a special project you participated ? Did you join a committee?
  • Include details of the job description that will emphasize your ability to get the job done and show your ability to perform.
  • Was the department you formerly worked in particularly demanding? Explain how you handled the demands and how you were able to deliver.
  • Mention how you handled other people you worked with. Did you supervise or take charge of a department?
  • If you do not fully meet the requirements mention in the job make sure you include a cover letter to explain why you believe you can do the job. What are you talents and background that will make you a successful candidate? What is your attitude and personality that makes you an ideal candidate?
